Rant on shipping

They've been on the national news for two days.

I know that. My comment was that it did get more coverage. I saw it a few times.

We have become a nation of thieves.

I don't know which makes me more angry, the thieves or those that enable the theives.

Had a delivery yesterday before the snow started, security cam showed guy parked his uhaul truck way out near the road. Didnt notice the picture for a few hours after the snow. Didn’t see any packages, so checked the porch cam. He dropped it right in front of the front door. So checked later and neighbor kid had picked it up. He waved and held up package in front of my camera as he walked by., so was probably his as we weren’t expecting anything.
And when the delivery guy backed up to leave, he knocked over a yard light in a flower bed next to the drive. Guy had no driving skills, but he did get out and straightened up the light.
I didn’t go out and check the light.

The UPS driver on my route always brings packages to the shop if he sees the door open or my pickup setting there, otherwise drops them at the front door.
I gave him a gift card just before Christmas and told him I appreciated the good service.

UPS dumped a $500 Amazon order in a planter at the end of my driveway, and said they delivered it to my front door.

I used to work with a very conservative, proper advertising executive. Always wore a suit. Never cussed or drank. When something was really jacked up, all he'd say is "Splendid." and walk away.

@buckeyefarmer I would say that the delivery qualifies as a "Splendid" delivery! (I am imaging the suit, along with a very British accent...)

We periodically get drivers saying that our address doesn't exist (grrr), and occasionally get the "delivered to your door" when it was dumped at the road a 1,000 feet away (double Grrr, and a call to the supervisor).

Tell them your security guard needs to stay vigilant, next time they should leave it with your butler or chauffeur

Well the other excuse I would get is they left it with the receptionist in the lobby!!

But that was DHL and I have not seen them in a decade or so.

Yesterday I got a message from Amazon saying:
Your package is on the way but running late. We’re sorry for the delay.

Today:

I am not sure where he parked but he was running to my house.

Been an interesting past couple weeks. Google has been dropping everyone off in front of our house for other peoples addresses along the street.

I've had more take out delivery drivers stopping by trying to give us food.

Been honest so far since I don't want to get the drivers in trouble. Not to mention one of my neighbors might be a little miffed when they are hungry and their take out hasn't arrived

Started last week with three large pizzas. Then some take out from a steak house

Then someone got something from an Italian restaurant.

Earlier today was groceries for another neighbor.


Then someone just showed up with some really good wings from wingstop

If a Door dash driver shows up with some cold stone creamery i might just say thank you and take my chances

Brand new street. Google apparently hasn't adjusted the addresses correctly. If you punch in an odd number for my street, Google takes you to my house

Google map has been pretty responsive to update for me. I might do the neighborly thing and update addresses for my neighbors. Apple Maps have been less so. There is a supposed right turn in our straight road that Apple maps insists is a waypoint and a turn. I can't seem to convince them otherwise.

There are two other houses on the street with the house number being 1 digit off from ours. I've met both of them as well. UPS has dumped packages off at our house for one of them.

The other had a package left in our box. Package wouldn't fit in the outgoing mail slot. So my option was to either drop it at the post office or just take it to them.

Much easier and faster to just take it to them.
