Rat control

Thanks - actually I built this when my dog got into the decon boxes one time. Had to call animal poison control and get her to vomit. I learned the hard way that poking a figure down a dog's throat does nothing but get you bitten since they have no gag reflex. With these the dogs can't get at the bait but the mice like the little horizontal pipe on the floor, especially if placed in their usual paths.

Had some mice in the work room in the garage where the dog stays. While away on vacation, with him out of the room, I put down some of the "sticky tray" mouse traps. They worked great and caught a couple. Haven't seen any since.

There is some kind of goo in there, like tar, that traps them. Peanuts are sprinkled in the middle to attract them. Worked well. I was reluctant to use the spring traps, as my dog loves peanut butter, cheese, bacon, and know that he would go crazy trying to get to the traps. But, I will use spring traps from now on as they seem more humane - kill 'em quick instead of trapping with a slow death.

Eddie, I don't know about that particular brand, but I once tried some "glue traps" and they did work; caught a couple of mice. But unfortunately, they also attracted and caught a few hundred ants. I was glad I tried them in the barn instead of in the house. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've used the glue traps & they worked. However, I'd rather them just go off & die than have to kill them myself & dispose of them. I just get the little bags of poison at the local feed store. I tear off a corner of the bag & put them behind something big like cabinets along the all. In the barn I find something along the wall that dogs can't get behind & put it there. Under the crawlspace of my house, i leave a bag in the middle of each wall. I try to replace every few months, but keep it avail all the time. If i forget to replenish & see some sign, I just load it up again. I really don't want rats & mice because I think thats what draws snakes & I really hate snakes.
