Ratchet Rake - ever seen/used one?

   / Ratchet Rake - ever seen/used one? #281
Could anyone advise me on whether a ratchet rake would work on my bucket? I don't know if you can tell from the photo, but the bottom is a little bent, so that the surface where the rake attaches is slightly bowed down in the middle.

I have the 52" which has quite a bit of space for the edge to fit into. The brochure talks about cutting the mount area to make it larger if the bucket is thick. I am thinking you can lay the unit on pavement with both edges of the teeth down and the mount up you can drive the edge of the bucket into place with the tractor. At least that is the way I get mine on.

I think I'm going to go ahead and buy it. I need to straighten out my bucket anyway, so if I have a shiny new ratchet rake sitting in the barn that I can't use, it just gives me more incentive to work on the bucket.

Luckily I need the 68" rake so I should be able to actually procure one.

I have been meaning to ask if the pirnanha steel or alumimum? I am considering both, but have numerous large rocks than could easily damage aluminum teeth, thereby nullifying the intended purpose.

The Piranha is 1/2" thick steel. Quite sturdy!

The Piranha is obviously a very different animal than the RR. I haven't been able to find out much about your product on the net though. Is it still in the development stage?

No, it's in production. We've been shipping the Piranha for some time now. We're doing some re-vamping of the "back office" part of our web site so the Piranha and a couple of other newer things haven't been added yet. Hopefully, the web site will be done very soon and they'll show up. I'll attach the "Blurb" again for anyone that missed it.

If I had one of these no one on this forum would be asking if they are in the development stage or wondering if any real people owned one with actual experience.:D:D:D

I have both the Ratchet rake and the Piranha tooth bar for a Kubota B3200 54" bucket. Neither will do exactly what the other will do.

Recently roughed up about 1/2 acre backyard area for seeding grass, the ratchet rake was great for that. Have 80 acres of rough country timber and very small fields; wanted to clear underbrush for a compacted gravel pad for a storage building; ratchet rake again as a starting point. In less that five minutes it was off and replaced by the Piranha and box blade for leveling and hauling. Digging rocks and small stumps Piranha.

Like most jobs it is easier if you have the right tool(s). Both have their place: if I could only have one it would be a tough choice but it would probably go to the Piranha in that you can dig, level AND haul with it in place.

I can see an advantage of the Piranha being able to stay on while doing other jobs vs the RR which has to come off to scoop up "stuff". I do love my RR though and won't give it up.
