I agree, there should be a standard for the media Digital devices use. All I was trying to say is that people should not be scared away from Sony cameras because of the Memory Stick. When I sold my 770, I kept my extra chips to use with my new Sony. We are getting a F828 when they come in with a couple more 128meg chips so I will have plenty of storage. Right now, I have a 32 meg, 64 meg and 3- 128 meg Memory sticks for the 717. The 828 will have whatever size stick it comes with plus the 2- 128's. The price on Memory sticks is not too bad anymore as they keep coming out with bigger sticks which reduces the price of the smaller sticks. These two 128's we just bought cost us $35 each since we bought them at the same time we ordered the 828. We are expecting the 828 to be delivered just before christmas or just after and when I get a chance to use it and take some pictures I will give a comparison of the 828 and the 717 to see if the new 8 meg camera is any better then the current 5 meg.

I have a Fuji FinePix 2800 Zoom. I think it was a great choice a year ago when I bought it. For probably about the same price (I bought it over the net for around $280, with an extra 64 meg card) you can beat the 2 megapixels and 6x optical zoom now. I would rate it top in all your categories, except for the software that came with it. I never got it to work. I transfer the pix to my computer through Windows explorer and use Adobe Photoshop Elements to tweak the pix.

Take a look at datadoctors.com for a quick guide to digital camera selection.

Good luck.

I like my little Sony. Caught this 84 year old in action in pitch blackness.

Brand/Model Nikon/CoolPix 900

Ease of use Very easy to use.

Battery life About as good as can be expected for digital cameras. I use the AC adapter 95% of the time.

Controls Easy to use, well placed.

Dependability I have owned this camera for 3 to 4 years with no problems. I would highly recommend Nikon.

Price At the time just shy $1000.00 they have really come down since.

Software that came with it Easy to use.

Comments: I really like the Macro mode. You can get extreme close-ups. The memory card is only 8MB but I own several. Nikon is known for their high quality lenses the world over.

Hey Pine Ridge,

I can bring the price down on anything.

Stock, Cameras, anything out there. (maybe not tractors)

Just let me know what you want the price knocked down on.

All I have to do is "Buy It"!

Price starts coming down shortly afterwards.

I think they wait for me to buy.

Tom

Brand/Model : Canon Powershot A70

Ease of use: Easy

Battery life: Great

Controls: Good

Dependability: So far so good

Price: $299

Software that came with it: OK

Comments: Only camera in this price that has Shutter or Aperture Priority, plus full manual. also 3X optical zoom. Image quality mostly excellent. Sometimes focus not accurate in bad lighting. Real happy with camera. This is a 3.2 MP camera. Have used an A60 and it is excellent 2MP camera also for $100 less.

( I think I've about decided to go with the Olympus C-740 UZ. I can get the camera from Digital Delivered for $358, which includes shipping.

Billy P, I've heard nothing but good things about that camera, along with the C750. I have been doing some research on a second digital camera for me (my wife seems to grab the A70 before I can get to it). I really want a digital SLR, but they are just too high right now. The C750 seemed to be a compromise until the SLRs come down some.

Kodak DX3600
2.2 M Pix
128 M Ram chip

Totally pleased with it. I have no doubt that there are better cameras. I like mine fine. I wouldn't use most features other cameras have. Docking station is un-necessary. Just plug in the cable and it downloads the pics just like that.

I use Microsoft Photo edit for working with the pics, not the Kodak software.

Well I ordered it. Finally had to order it through Dell (at a decent price).

I could have bought it a little cheaper, from one of those online New York camera shops. I called one the other day, to see if it was in stock (website said it was) and the guy said it was. I hadn't actually made up my mind at that point. I called back yesterday and it was out of stock. Just for the heck of it, I called back a few hours later and it was 'in' stock. I tell the guy I want it and he says I'll have to order it over the net. I asked him why and he said their system was down. I called several more online dealers and got the same BS. What they want is for you to place an order of out of stock cameras. Then they have your money while you wait on your camera. No Thank You.
