So far this year its Rattle Snakes 3 & Friendlies 3.
1 Rattler under the house. Few hours later Rattler at the end of the house.
This evening Rattler #3.
Outside dog was sounding off, she has a different bark for a Rattler. Put down my chocolate milk & opened front door. There was Bobbie & that nasty rattling sound. Got my 4 foot snake shovel (It has the edge straight & sharp.) from the back door. Front deck about 10' long & its right in the middle. 2x3 8' long near by, got a few whacks in as it started my way. Got a chop at its tail, minor wound. It turned under the steps & was hiding under a sack of trash. Moved the trash, damm its way too close. Those suckers are really tough. Got some good chops in, but its still ready to fight. Finally able to chop on its head, even with head mashed & almost cut off, still trying to strike. Mashed its head to the point that it is now harmless.
If it's still there in the AM will get a picture. Young snake about 3.5' long & fairly thin for a rattler. Near perfect rattles (6 /8 ??) will take them of in the AM unless the critters have taken it away.
Bobby girl is the rattle snake alert. Rarely barks at the friendlies or much of anything else.
