So far this year its Rattle Snakes 3 & Friendlies 3.

1 Rattler under the house. Few hours later Rattler at the end of the house.
This evening Rattler #3.

Outside dog was sounding off, she has a different bark for a Rattler. Put down my chocolate milk & opened front door. There was Bobbie & that nasty rattling sound. Got my 4 foot snake shovel (It has the edge straight & sharp.) from the back door. Front deck about 10' long & its right in the middle. 2x3 8' long near by, got a few whacks in as it started my way. Got a chop at its tail, minor wound. It turned under the steps & was hiding under a sack of trash. Moved the trash, damm its way too close. Those suckers are really tough. Got some good chops in, but its still ready to fight. Finally able to chop on its head, even with head mashed & almost cut off, still trying to strike. Mashed its head to the point that it is now harmless.

If it's still there in the AM will get a picture. Young snake about 3.5' long & fairly thin for a rattler. Near perfect rattles (6 /8 ??) will take them of in the AM unless the critters have taken it away.

Bobby girl is the rattle snake alert. Rarely barks at the friendlies or much of anything else.

That is a good dog you have there. My granddad always carried a sharpened hoe for rattlesnake chopping. He brought me several rattles a year when I was a boy.

Saw this yesterday while riding the gator while checking hay fields. Didn't have my hickory stick in the gator.

Good little hound there, crash. I used to have a snake dog, old Rover. He got bit on nose one time by a copperhead. Ever since then, he would run around behind a snake and catch it, shake the rascal to death. He never got bit again. He was a special dog. Neighbor called dog catcher one time when her female was in heat. Old Rover escaped the pound and came home from over 20 miles away. Oh me, done got me started, and this is about Arizona rattlesnakes! Buddy of mine from Arizona said he counted 21 on way back to his truck from fishing one evening there.

If you drop a cap or something on the ground, lots of times they will stay there watching it, giving you time to find a weapon.

Only good rattlesnake is a dead rattlesnake.

I never kill them unless they are in the yard. [or Margie is with me]
Snakes have never cost me any money. Rabbits, rats and mice have. I say let them eat.

My friend in Texas just sent me pictures of the rattler he killed on his front porch last night. Only good rattlesnake is a dead rattlesnake.

If I ever saw that thing in my yard, the only thing I would be doing is buying is a "house for sale" sign and a plane ticket. I'm a big guy, but those things scare the heck out of me. Wow I give you guys credit, I couldn't do it.

The only places you could move to are Alaska or Hawaii.
Not truly scary, but they do make you cautious.

Being up to three already this year is not good. Most ever in 1 year was 3. Plenty of time for more to appear.

A few pic's from years past. Things did slow down after I killed the breeding pair shown. The quail killed 1 small one, saved me the trouble.
