RatX, anyone use it?

Aaron, can you go into the details of how this works. I suspect there is some kind of gas production in the gut of the rat that kills it? Do you have any info on this?

In answer to my own question, I did some research, and it appears that the baking soda, reacting to acid in the rats gut produces C02 gas that the rat apparently cant pass (imagine that! rats can't fart:laughing:) and it ruptures the rats gut eventually.

Rats cant pass gas, so when the baking soda reacts with the stomach contents to make gas, they cannot pass it and it kills them.

My dog can pass gas, is it safe for her? She is half Hoover, half Bissell so everything gets sucked up.

We constantly had problems with rats, mice and some native marsupials chomping the wiring of our cars and tractors. The trouble with baits is that vermin often crawl into inaccessible areas to die, which has given me some great jobs, like pulling air con ducting on our utility to remove decaying carcasses. Traps are good, but are usually only one-shot devices which don't discriminate between killing native species and vermin, so we finally developed and patented an electronic vermin deterrent system (no, it is not an ultra-sonic plug pack device), which has proven 100% effective on protecting our cars over the past couple of years. Have a look at it here - Home

OK, further research suggests that rats can fart, but cannot burp because of a one way flapper valve from esophagus to stomach. So if CO2 gas is formed in the stomach, perhaps it cannot get out fast enough at the rear end and cannot be expelled at the front end do to the flapper valve restriction. Maybe someone here has more rat biology experience than I can comment on these things.

Was that laboratory research or google research? :D

Ha, Ha, Google. I have no use for rats... I think they make good targets..I realize some people might have one for a pet, but not me..

We have found a very effective kill for all rodents that will not affect canines or cats or birds.

1 cup peanut butter
5 300 milligram vitamin D tablets ground to a powder.
1 cup or so of breakfast oats.

mix peanut butter and Vitamin D
add oats oil no longer sticky.

make little dough balls and leave for rodent to enjoy.

3.5 to 4 days later rodent is dead.

Vitamin D at one time was actually marketed as a rat killer.

We have used this very successfully on our farm to exterminate Voles.

If you don't believe this recipe please google the fact of Vitamin D as a rat killer.

Who woulda thunk it. Does it work on mice? Thanks.
