Razor Blades and Wal Mart

Late to the thread, but I have a question for all those who want to force Wally to unionize.

Do you know of anyone who was ever forced to work at a Wal-Mart?

Low wages or not, the last I looked every last employee there volunteered for the job. If 80% don't last a year, so what? The purpose of a business is not to provide a job for their employees, it is to make a profit for the owners. And if the business fails at that job, it will close -- which means no jobs for anyone.

I have a news flash. In Josephine county Oregon the unemployment rate is now 16%. All those underpaid workers at Wal-Mart feel pretty lucky to have a job at all, even if the pay sucks. It is still higher than unemployment.

And, I have yet to see Wal-Mart force anyone to walk that mile from the back of the parking lot to the store entrance. People do it willingly. Just because you don't want to, you don't have to, you can go to a different store.

But, what I suspect is that the people who complain about Wal-Mart, want the low prices, they just don't want the long walk to the store, and the checkout lines. Well, they all go together. The prices are low because the labor cost is low. If you want lots of service, go somewhere else.

But, for me, since I am retired, I have the time to spend to save a few bucks.

Interesting thread,

I'll shave my beard off, then go apply at WalMart. If I am lucky to get a job there, I'll let my beard come back in, try and unionize them, if that happens maybe I can be CEO someday. Excellent plan.

I think once I am CEO, I'll spin off some stores to go into the Agri-Green business, create a TractorMart, once that takes off, I'll retire.

:) :) :)

I'm for more walmarts and fewer scuzzy strip malls..........By the way, if the walmart execs gave up half their salary to the "workers", how much would each receive? I don't know, just wondering.

Long story short I got a box of stationary supplies as a joke for Christmas.:rolleyes::D

I'm using some of the stuff but its like a goodies box for the kids. Well last night they found this package of four pens. Four for a dollar said the package. Nice looking pens. Bright color and "fat" to be easy to hold. I'm very surprised it took the kids this long to find the pens. :D They somehow managed to divy up the four pens with out a fight!:D:D:D

In less than five minutes one of the pens was in pieces and one kid was looking for parts under the couch. We though she taken the pen apart but she said it just broke. Told her to use the other pen and we would fix the broken pen when I had time. How hard could it be?

Within a minute or two the second pen was broken. The child was just trying to write with the pen. It simply fell to pieces. No real way to fix it either. It just fall apart. Its a pen for goodness sake. How hard is it to make a pen?

Is this Walmarts fault?

Nope! It was bought at a dollar store. :D:D:D:D:D

But you do know where the pen was made. Looked good. Lots of flash. Just would to WRITE!

Later,
Dan

So where are the razor blades made these days anyhow?

One thing I noticed was a particular shoe that I buy there, I had three pairs and all wore well. Once they showed signs of wear, I would us them for 'work' around the house. So I would just by em and rotate them But the last pair seems to be of a different material , less flexible. like plastic of some sort.
I suspect they changed to save money and in the process have lost me as a customer.
Also my fiend has the same trouble with his work boots he used to but at Sam's.

I could tell you where razor blades are made, but you'd just say I was full of Schick.:D:D:D

Schick Happens!

Actually, I think Schick is owned by the same people who make Energizer batteries. Maybe that's why this thread just keeps going and going and going. . . .:)

Well i just got the safety razor i ordered and man what a shave.

First shave was pretty intense, staring at a naked blade there and knowing its not idiot proof like the Gilette i used to use. Reading others experience online i half expected to need stiches , but im happy to say i didnt need them or a blood transfusion.:D

So if your looking to kick the $15.00/pack of blades habit i can recommend the Merkur Futur. Both it and the blades are Made in Germany. Nice solid feel and has a good weight in the hands. Very satisfied.

No more buying the latest, greatest, x bladed razors for me. More blades mean its better right? :D Im goin old school from now on.
