Thanks to all who posted on this topic before. I learned a lot, but I'm still confused about the center spindle on this mower. The lateral spindles are no problem. I just grease them until grease starts coming out of the holes in the cups underneath the deck. The center spindle is different. It doesn't take very much grease before the grease starts appearing on top of the deck (underneath the gear box). This worries me because I'm afraid the bearings are not getting grease. There appears to be no way to fill the cup on this spindle since every squirt I put in simply appears on the top of the deck. I doesn't seem like removing the blade and cup would make any difference (I haven't done this) since the grease would still just accumulate on the top of the deck. How the heck does one grease the center spindle? I now have about 20 hours on the mower.

I could use a refresher on this myself. The cavity underneath I believe is the issue but not sure?

Seems like the question is whether there is something inside the cap on the center spindle that is keeping the grease from coming out that little hole...or is something else going on?

I would take the blade off the center spindle and see what I found if anything. On my mower (BX2200, same mower I think) grease did come out on all three. But I took all three blades off and the caps off, so I could see what was happening...

It seems like you should see grease come out the bottom. If not, maybe you should be talking to the dealer and asking why not. Remember the mower may only carry a year warranty...as compared to the tractors 2-full/3-power train warranty.

Pump the grease in until it comes out the BOTTOM. Mine does! Regardless of whether some comes out the top, keep pumping. As I recall, my center was the worst in regards to how much it needed.

If you're pumping grease until the dust cups are full and squirting grease out the hole, you're wasting a lot of grease. Take the blades and dust cups off and pump until you see grease coming out the spindles. Put the dust cups and blades back on and start mowing. From then on, just give each fitting a couple pumps periodically. Filling the dust cups serves no function other than wasting grease and likely making a mess.

Thanks guys. Obviously there are different opinions on this subject: to fill the cups or not? I will take the center blade off to see what I can. I've never had a machine I had to take apart to grease!

If you fill the cups you are indeed wasteing grease. The grease in the cups lubricates nothing. BUT - You must take it aprt once to determine if you have filled the spindle. I will not be taking it apart in the future, I will just hit each with 5 pumps and I will be confident that there is grease in te spindles and slightly leaking into the cups.
