re: 1401d driveline u-joint replacement
The 1401d driveline ujoint is no longer available. See posting 1/13/05. For anyone who is interested, I ended up making a nice repair using a NEAPCO part no. 1-0028 u joint by making the following changes; the holes in the yolk were bored out to .787 in. and the inside yolk dimension was milled to 1.500 in. The new part uses spring clips on the inside of the yolk so that difficult machining of grooves inside the holes is avoided. The neapco part was $22 at my local driveline shop. I did all the work on a tabletop lathe/mill/drill machine. It's nice to have my four wheel drive back.
