Re: Project PT-1850
I checked out a Case 435 Skid Steer with a 70+ hp Cummins Diesel few months ago. No Glow plugs, Compression started, the whole 9 yards. Salesman told us, "If it cranks, it'll start"
It was about 30 some degrees out then, and it had been siting for months in the Cold Michigan Winter but the thing fired right up on the 2nd crank. That impressed me.
Deutz is a very good diesel. But I found over time how good the Cummins Diesel is. I know there is a lot of other True diesels, but Cummins is at the top of my list, Followed by CAT and Deutz. I'm not that familar with Deutz, all I know is their Air/Oil Cooled and are really loud.I think I could come up with a fairly long list of TRUE diesels. Since getting the PT, however, I've seldom dreamed of repowering it with a Lister CS, or Packard-diesel from the Bellanca Pacemaker. (My Bellanca had a Franklin 150 gas engine.) The first time I changed a filter on the 1845 and the Deutz started up without bleeding the injectors, Deutz went to the top of my TRUE diesel list.
