Re: Simple 2305 questions

I am seriously looking at a new 2305 TLB but I have a couple of simple questions that I am pretty sure some of you could answer:

1.. I have noticed there is a kit for an independant lift option for the mower, if I didn't go this way, how else would you raise and lower the mower?
2.. Does the 3pt hitch need to come off to put on the BH?
3.. To take off the 3pt hitch, do you have to remove the rear wheels?
4.. I have looked under the tractor and I am a little shocked how open the filter is to abuse. I have noticed their are some skidplates from 3rd party for these rigs. Does JD not offer one? Will the skidplate be enough to protect the tractor? What about the MMM and the skidplate?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

Mac,

The standard lift mechanism on the 2305 uses a tab that overlaps the left 3PH lower arm. There is a dial to control the height located on the operators platform that has a lock position so you can use the 3PH while the MMM is on. Unless you specifically need to have the independant lift with the backhoe frame (I think someone mentioned this, but it might have been on a 2320 or 2520), I would skip it.

The 3PH lower arms do need to be removed for the backhoe installation. The tires do not need to come off, although one poster has mentioned that it is easier to take one tire off.

Aftermarket skid plates are available, but as far as I know, no one makes one compatable with the MMM. I have almost 300 hrs on my 2210 and have yet to damage the filter (I'm always aware of it though, and do keep an extra filter on hand just in case). If you think this is going to be an issue, then maybe you should go with the 2320.

I would love to find a skidplate that connects to the deck lifts in place of the deck. Why someone with welding skill and ingenuity hasn't built one yet is beyond me... (Note that I lack both the aforementioned skills...)

VA,

That's a great idea! Much better than our $2500 MMM's!
