Is there such a thing? I had some on my ROPS but all they did was attract every bug in the county. I've seen them on the loader arms but I work in the woods so much they'd just snag branches and break. In the end I just resolved to use my tractor in the daylight hours. Does anybody have a durable and effective solution?

Lights could be placed in heavy metal mesh protectors.

Problem is working at night in the woods without proper guards for the operator could lead to an unpleasant oppsi.

Which is why I don't work the tractor at night! Besides, there are animals to feed before the sun goes down.

Pete I saw that you signed on the dotted line…..congratulations! I’d say that was a pretty good Christmas gift. Also noticed you bought some forks and I think with all the firewood you process you will really like them. Sure is nice to lift a log and cut rounds at a comfortable height. I am moving most of my wood on pallets now instead of handling it several times.

Mark -- I'm hoping the forks will be a real time saver in a couple of ways. First, after I drop a tree and limb it, I used chains on the FEL to lift the trunk off the ground in order to keep my chainsaw from dulling when it hits dirt. The forks ought to make that much easier. Secondly, after skidding the logs home, I used the FEL and chains to lift them onto my log pile. The forks ought to make lifting and placing much easier as well, especially since I can do it all without dismounting or worrying about the chains getting pinned between two heavy logs.

I also use the FEL with chains to lift logs to waist height for cutting into rounds. You mentioned you did that with the forks as well. Do you just alternate ends to keep it from falling off?

I don't have a place near the house where I could keep firewood out of the weather, so will probably continue bringing it one cart at a time...though palletizing it sounds pretty cool!

If you use forks for moving logs make sure you also some vertical prongs so the logs can't roll back and sit in your lap. If you have the bucket high and curl back.

I'm getting the skidsteer type with the vertical frame for just that reason. Pete
