Just spoke with the office manager (not the name of guy on sign).
Before I told him what was up, I asked if they had any listings on my road (no). How about in the general area? (no).
Long story short, I then laughingly told him what the deal was and how I thought someone was having fun at their expense...
He laughed and agreed that as best he knows, his sign does NOT belong there and he was appreciative of my offer to take it down. He said he personally, would stop by my house later tonight and pick it up.
He of course, then said... "However, we WOULD be happy to list your property for you..."
I smiled and said "If you & I can wait another 5 years, we'll BOTH make a heck of a lot more!"
He laughed/smiled and said "hope to hear from ya"
That seems to be the end of the story. I'll post a pic when I get home tonight anyways, so you might get a flavor of how out of place this is.
By the way, on the pictures with the drawn lines, the road into the land is the same road that marks the left side of the outline and that road ends at the point marked.
There is absolutly NO way this can be for anything legit.
Not a soul lives on the opposite side of the road, nearest neighbor is a ways down the road (if you look at map, it's where the large cove is). All down this road, the only houses are on the right side (as viewing picture). There are no public access points other than for a hiking trail, but that's on TVA land.
Although my guard isn't down 100%, I'm willing to chalk this up to basic idiocy.
The idea of vandals brings up a high school memory of mine (not a good one).
Was hanging out with a neighborhood friend (troublemaker). We were walking home after a football game or something. He said "watch this"...as he walked over to a for sale sign in someones yard...
I stood there & watched as he walked up to it and wiggled it out of the ground.
Although I did not seem to understand the humor in that, my mind was thinking forward and presumed he'd plant said sign in the neighbors yard.
Then, suddenly to my horror, he sort of did a 360 degree turn with his body and HEAVED that sign onto their front porch screen/glass door and it made a HECK of a racket and of course, broke the glass yada yada yada...
Mortified, I just rannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
As an aside, this is the same guy who was trying to , well, not trying, I witnessed him, putting lit cigars down the gas tank of a vehicle... good thing it was a diesel.
This guy was a real ner-do-well as we were growing up... and today he is an attorney. I've always meant to find him and ask if he was a prosecutor or defense attorney... I figure for all the crap he did as a kid, there is NO one who would be able to pull the wool over his eyes!
