The toughest guy I know is a man who worked on a line crew as a Lineman. They were building a small electric substation and he was sitting up on top of the steel structure waiting to install a 25 Kv 600 amp three phase switch. The had set up their boom truck to lift the switch up to place it but they misjudged the stability of the footing for the outrigger foot. When they swung the load over to where it was supposed to go, the dirt collapsed into a shallow trench and the truck went over. The boom contacted the top part of the framework and slide along it and before he could get out of the way, it sliced his leg completely off mid thigh in a scissors like motion.
He climbed down off that structure unaided, a distance of about 25 feet.
