Have never operated a tractor. In process of getting my first one.
So I got a rear blade for free that is not in great shape. Going to have to straighten some flanges, add bushings for wallered out holes, etc. Have it all apart now and thinking about rust removal and then painting.

Any advice for type of paint? Probably not even going to worry about the cutting blade itself but would like to paint the main frame and the section that has all the holes in it for various angles. I am guessing that there is some kind of paint made for this type of application that sees a lot more abuse than your typical paint job. Any advice?

Post some pictures of it when you have a chance

Best paint I've used is either Tenemic or Pittsburgh AUE coatings. My stainless Craftsman 1/2" socket wrench has some gray Tenemic spots from 20 years ago. The Pittsburgh AUE held up well on a snow blower and a few other things.

I've always found Rustoleum oil based paint as the most cost effective for implements. Wire brush or grind the rust off, brush or spray the paint on and it will last for years at a low cost.

I thought Rustoleum would be the best paint for our cast iron patio furniture. (Background in this photo). But now, 5 years on, the white Rustoleum top coat is peeling from their red primer. Not sure where I went wrong.

When I was delivering freight years ago, a 5 gal bucket of highway striping paint spilled over in my trailer and got it on my hand truck. 40 years later I still have that same yellow paint on it.

OK, some pics. I am trying that electrolysis thing to remove the rust.
