LS XJ2025H
Tried using my box blade the other day and noticed my XJ2025h felt like it had no power. Shifted out of 4wd and into 2wd and hit the forward pedal and the tractor wouldn't move. No power to the rear wheels. If I pushed down on the diff lock then hit the forward pedal the tractor would slowly move with a horrible grinding noise coming from the rear end. Let off the diff lock pedal and back to no power going to the rear wheels. I was able to put it back in 4wd and use the front wheel drive to get her up on the trailer and off to the dealer she went.

Hydraulic fluid was full and looked good. Dealer thinks rear axle let go based on the story. Rear pto still engages and works fine, just no power to rear wheels!

Soonest they said they could try and look at it is Tuesday.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a definite failure somewhere in the rear end. The main reason for failure that I have seen is if the diff lock doesn't release and you make turns on a hard surface. At 4 years old it should be covered by warranty.

Sounds like the differential let go. Using the diff lock on hard surfaces is extremely hard on it.

My BIL did that to an old JD backhoe. Repair estimate at the dealer was $10k.

I never use the diff lock really and only ever drive on dirt so I'm thinking just maybe some bad luck? Still have a year left on my warranty so hopefully whatever they figure out is broken gets taken care of by LS. 107 miles each way to the dealer is the true inconvenience! 5 hours round trip if you count loading and unloading and maybe a coffee stop along the way. Then gonna be another 5 hour round trip when she's ready to come back home. A real good group of guys though that work at this dealer so I'm confident they will get her fixed up!

Axle or differential side gear, I shattered on in my 57 Bel-Aire back in my teenage hot rodding days.

Dealer confirmed busted axle. Waiting for parts to be shipped from North Carolina to California.

I'm glad the dealer found the problem and that warranty will cover it.
