I use the LP 4' box for my ballast. Not to imply buying one just for weight, but it weighs 303 lbs (as per Landpride web info) and there is absolutely no strain, etc.. with that amount of weight. I have just cleared and graded (lots of digging with the FEL too) a spot for a storage building and the counterweight seemed perfect for the FEL. Hope this helps regarding your post.

I've got a Bx2200 and use a NH 3pt wt bracket that can hold 5 - 50lb weights. Very compact - doesn't stick out far at all. I was using 4 (200lbs) throughout the winter to move snow which worked fine. This spring I used the front loader to move a full bucket of very wet dirt/mud and the rear end seemed to bounce quite a bit. I'm now using two additional weights for a total of 300, which seems more stable. The manual recommends rear implements for ballast in the 300+ range.

Sorry it took so long to respond - I hadn't logged on for a while. My dealer purchased the bracket from North State Sales. I don't know if this part number is NH or North State, but here it is.
The bracket is part number 7001 - I paid $94. The part number for the weights is 3113 - I paid $39 each for those. The bracket has this information on a label glued on: North State Sales, 2204 N. Church Street, Greensboro, NC, (336) 275-9578.

Nice idea, well realized. I will build one of these, I think, instead of a baffled drum of water I was considering. Shouldn't be too hard to imbed some bolts to allow adding additional weight(s) when desired.
