Grading Rear Blade for my BX23

   / Rear Blade for my BX23 #11
I have a BushHog 35-05 which has a 5' blade with tilt, swivel, offset. Offset is done by removing bolts which may turn out to be a pain but I carry a full set of tools on Baby anyway. The tilt has only one position at 15° which is pretty aggresive. However I can get about 5° out of the side link. The blade required no mod but I do have my lower arms and side link shackles redrilled (as per an old post on this forum) which was necessary to get enough lift. It's a great blade (construction, fit, finish) but I may find that I get way more use out of my box blade cuz I can control it's aggresiveness so much more.
Cheers!

Does anyone know if Pats' easy change would give the necessary additional lift to use a tilting blade?
I was told by my dealer that I would have to use a blade that does not tilt due to lift limitations on the BX23. What I hear many saying is that they are able to successfully use a tilting blade with minor or no modifications.

Pat's add about 4" to the lower links. If the top link is kept at its "pre-Pat's length" by default the rear blade will be tilted forward. It will add a small amount of lift but not more than 2" when the lower arms in the the fully lifted position. The real problem with using the blade at a tilt is determining how much tilt you need and then figuring if the length of the blade will allow for the angle of tilt. On flat ground, you can tilt a 48" blade steeper than you can tilt a 60" blade so you may need to consider using a smaller blade? Or, if you get a blade with an offset feature, you can simply offset it so more of the blade is up and the lowest point is simultaneously closest to the center line of the tractor.

By the way, I also use Midwest blades and find them to be an excellent value and also very well designed. They are the only blades I found that allowed for all adjustments to be made without the use of tools.

Short Top Link

Much cheaper than Pat's. Shorter than OEM so it will give more adjustment. It will also lengthen LONGER than the oem top link too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here's another vote for the RBC60. No modifications are necessary with this blade.
