Looking for a 7 to 8 foot rear blade for Kioti DS4510HS. Would like hydraulic angle function. Two questions:

1. What width should I get - mostly for grading gravel and moving snow (would like to be able to run a good angle and still cover 69" width of tractor). I have one land scaping project in mind where I want to turn an old flower garden and lightly wooded area area into lawn but that will be once and done.

2. Any recommendations? Don't want to go over $2000. I like the two on everything attachments and lean towards the heavier one but I didn't see hydraulic angle offered (I could live without it expecially if I got the side plates). I like the Bison NVHA models because they seem reasonably priced and have hydraulic angle. I think the Bison could hold up to my current tractor but I do see a 60-70 hp tractor in the future so something a little heavier would be nice.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Ron

I think a 7 footer would do. If its for snow as well, be sure to get a moldboard of at least 17"-18" high. I'm not sure what you mean as a "pretty good angle". I set mine at about 30* as an all around angle to have snow and debris windrow off. I once set my 6' at 45* to move 8" of wet, sticky snow and it actually would move the tractor rear around. If you aren't getting into hydraulics , you should be able to find a nice rb for around $1300. Also, be sure it has enough mount throw length for you to be able to spin the blade 360* while mounted on the tractor. Whatever you end up with, make sure it has an easy method to offset the blade. You'll find the offset feature very handy.

A 7' blade at 30* angle will cover 6'.

Ditto what was said about too much angle. 30 is about right. Weather dirt or snow, anymore moves the tractor around

By "pretty good angle" I just mean enough angle to move dirt / snow / gravel to the side without spilling to the wrong side much and without building up to the point where you have to lift the blade. I don't have enough experience with blades to know what that is.

I really like the Allied Farm King blades they are some of the heaviest built I have researched. They offer all the angle capabilities and tilt plus offset and all of those can be Hydraulic or fixed. I would not buy the hydraulics with the blade since you can buy yourself for almost half of what factory wants to charge. Magister hydraulic is an advertiser on Tractorbynet I just ordered my 3.5x8 for $123.00 their sale ends in March I think. Look up who your dealer is online or check out eBay they had a few listed a month or so for pretty close to what you want to pay. If you are really going to go up to a bigger tractor your 3 put is more than likely going to go from cat. 1 to cat. 2 so be aware of that. I can use my cat1 implements on my cat. 2 tractor just not sure how you can go the other way.
In any event I would get the 8 foot blade minimum if you are sure you will be upgrading to bigger tractor or you will be unhappy with the blade later. I found a { right place at the right time} deal on a 100hp rated 9 foot blade, my 65hp tractor pulls it just fine and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the blade. Good luck with your search!

Most of the heavier duty blades have both CAT 1and CAT 2 hitches standard.

If you are sure you want hydraulics get the blade w/o cylinders or manual adjust and get after market cylinders to match. You will save a lot of $$$.

Farm King has some good heavy cat 2 blades. Their cat 1-2 blades leave a lot to be desired. Gladehound is going to be hard pressed to find a nice rear blade that meets his current and foreseeable future wants-needs IMO. Probably closest that I know of would be the Land Pride RB3796
Has hydraulic angle, skid shoes and end plates as options. The ideal unit would be an RB3596 IMO. But you're not going to get it for $2000.

Thanks for your input. After reading through it and looking at the options, I am coming to the realization (as Brian mentioned) that it is difficult to meet my current and potential future needs with a one time purchase and stay on budget. For that reason I am only going to focus on my current needs at this time. I'm going to be with my current property and machine most likely for 12 years minimum. I'll can figure out the future later. See - you guys are so good that you answered a question i didn't even know I had!

So now my questions are:

1. End plates vs. hydraulic angle. If I got end plates, I doubt I would want to take them off and on all the time but I suppose they would negate the hydraulic angle. Question: Which is more useful for twice a year maintenance of a gravel driveway, an blade with hydraulic angle or a blade with end plates?

2. For my current tractor only (45hp 4WD), would the Bison NVHA be suitable in either 7 or 8 ft width? It's about 400 pounds and has a 60hp rating (I didn't see it specified if that is 2wd or 4wd)

3. Any others that I should be considering given that we are now only sizing for the current tractor?
