Does anyone know if shoes can be purchased for a 5' rear
Woods blade?

In the brochure for the Woods blades, they show shoes as
an option on the 7' blades, but not the 5' or 6', so
obviously Woods themselves don't sell them.

Just wondering if anyone has shoes on a 5' blade and,
if so, where they were purchased.

Thanks.

Wish I could help, but maybe you can help me...what are "shoes"?

I bought a pair at an auction for $40 to mount on a 7' rear blade... I ended up selling the blade, but still have the shoes.

I'll measure the slot later, they should work on any blade as long as you have 'holes' at the bottom of your moldboard to mount these...

You can have them for what I paid plus shipping if you're interested.

I priced the shoes that are mounted on my Ford 8' Rear blade and almost fell down... $85..... EACH! /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

TonyC,

They are talking about skid shoes. These allow the cutting edge of the blade to run just off the surface.

Hmmm...that's a new one on me. Do you mean if I used these on my blade, I could plow snow off of my driveway without having the blade edge scrape across my $$$$$$ blacktop? Anyone have a picture or a website that sells them where I can see them?

John,

Sold if Snowman does not want them. Just send me an email message with the particulars.

Yes, it appears that most of the manufacturers do not offer skid shoes on the smaller blades.

Here's what they look like next to my size 13 boot...

John - thanks for the offer, but I don't have any place on the
blade to bolt them into; there are no holes in the moldboard
or the blade itself (other than the bolt holes to bolt the
moldboard onto the blade).

It does answer another question that I had, which was how
do the shoes attach to the blade.

Anyway, since I first posted that question, I bit the bullet and
had the driveway paved, so my need for the shoes is not as
great anymore.

Thanks again for the offer.

I guess I'm still not clear on the purpose of these shoes. Would they not help to protect a paved driveway when plowing snow, or is the use of a normal blade safe enough?

Yes, they are primary used to protect a hard surface for snow removal. Similar to what you see on plows mounted on the front of a truck.

I asked my local woods dealer about the shoes for the 5' blade as they would be nice for snow removal, but he was pretty sure they were'nt available on the 5'.

also asked my local Landpride dealer and he mentioned the same thing. However, I see on the landpride website they are available as an option for the 15 series. And I think someone posted in another thread they had purchased them.
