Rear & forwarding light for 3000 twenty

This is a post for the 3120 to 4720 rear and forwarding lights. John Deere has stated on there wed site and in there operation/repair books that you can not pair the forwarding and daul rear work lights at the same time. This is not true they have 2 hooks ups in the back behind the seat. There are 2 purple and black wires with rubber plugs on the ends. Just make sure it is the purple and black wires. I just finshed hooking up my lights on my 3120 and the only problem is with the wiring is both forwarding and rear work lights come on at the sametime. You will need to have the warning light brush gaurd kit for the forwarding lights. It makes a big differents with the forward lighting when running loader at dusk or at night.They work great!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They might mean that there is not enough alternator and/or wire capacity to handle the loads. Check them out and make sure the reasons aren't electrical capacity issues.

A 3120 to 3720 have a 30 amp charging system and the 4120 to 4720 has 55 anp charging system. the fuse is a 30 amp and the wires are 16 ga. heavy duty wire so there should be no problem with wire size and charging system. I have ran my old 2210 with ownly a 20 amp charging system and that was with 6 55 watt holgen lamps and work 2 work lights.

30 amps at 12 volts is 360 watts ( a little more at the actual alternator output voltage of 13 or 14 volts). An alternator only puts out rated amperage when dead cold. You would be lucky to get 360 watts out of it hot. That is a total of 6 60 watt lights with nothing left over. A 2210 when hot can probaly run 200 watts or a little better . Anything above that is coming from the battery.

Apparently my post got deleted when they moved you original post, so I will say it again. The limitation may be due to the contact rating of the light switch, that is what I was told by JD Engineering when I inquired about my 2305. Better watch out for melt down when the weather gets warm.

All I know is I did talk to a John Deere tec. and he told me that it would not bother the charging or wiring. I have wired up about 14 tractor out where I work and have not hadroblem yet and don't think deere would put two hookups and give you two pig tail end that hooks into the purple and black wires to make it for two sets of lights per side I will post pictures of the pig tails they gave in the kit. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So if it isn't a problem why would JD say not to do it? I can't think of a reason they wouldn't want to sell you more stuff unless it is a problem.
