Rear Grader Blade for Snow Removal

I live in North Central Ohio and have used back blades. 3pt snow-
blower and the front end loader for moving snow. I've never had
problems with our 5ft blower attached to our TC-33 manual. when
using the snow blower in low range at PTO rpm the ground speed
is fairly slow and I've stood up and put a knee on the seat while
backing up. even use the snow blower to clear deep snow from our
sled dog trails when it got to deep. We have an Allied 5ft blower.
I believe it cost around $1400-$1500 new about 5 years ago.

Gotta wonder -- how much damage does the thrown snow do to your tree buds? Are the trees big enough or do you aim the chute low enough to avoid the small branches? Any notable damage to the trunks? I've seen trees on exposed island ridges on Isle Royale that only grow on the leeward side.

Most of my trees are pretty large. There is no damage to the trunks. There is just a clump of snow on each tree trunk at chute level (about 5 feet). The samller brush that grows in there I don't worry about. The woods are pretty dense with a mixture of pine, oak, walnut and black locust.

I should mention that my drive is blacktop so I don't throw gravel at them.

Aha! I was picturing a driveway curving up through a manicured lawn and lined on both sides with carefully selected cultivars of ornamental trees chosen to provide a display of just the right color in the spring and fall, all the same size and shape, when in fact you've got a drive through the woods, which is a whole 'nother situation. Wish mine was paved, at least when it isn't winter here. Being able to scratch up some gravel and mix it with the ice chunks helps a lot on my hill. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
