Buying a tractor this week and dealer wants $800 for a rear remote. That seems like the going rate between the dealerships, but wondering if I should get the parts after I buy the tractor and do it my self.

Some things you might consider.

Is my hyd open center or closed center?

How many spools?

How many GPM do I have?

What am I going to be using in the future?

Will I be using T-N-T?

Do I need detent?

Do I need float?

Do I need a motor spool?

Can I plug a BH into the remotes?

Will I be using a log splitter, water pump, generator, etc?

Not sure what I may hook up to a rear remote other than a grader box at the moment. Does this site other good tech support in picking out the right equipment for a tractor.

They have the parts, you have to know what you want, or just ask a question.

I would suggest a 4 spool valve.

Answer as many of the questions J.J. posted in post #3 and he will be sure to reccommend the right parts to buy.

I have two rear remotes on the 2030 and three on the 6415. I can see needing four at times.

Check your manual and see if they mention something about a hydraulic block.

If it does, just follow the instructions for installing the rear remotes.

My dealer installed triple remotes on my 2008 Mahindra 5525 when I bought it new--cost $700. It's his own design--not a super-overpriced factory kit.

It's not rocket science--so you can DIY. Surplus Center has all the parts you would need--there are other suppliers also that you can find via a Web search. You'll have to cut, drill and weld up the support brackets yourself. Search TBN for hydraulic remotes--there're a lot of threads on this topic that will help you along the way.

Good luck.

JJ, from the sound of the first post, since he does not own a tractor yet, I doubt that he has a manual to look at.

As far as the rear remotes go, cleaner & usually faster to go with the OEM remotes, but quite a bit more money. I would say that you could have 4 rear remotes for less $$$ than what 1 OEM remote costs. That is if you do all the research, track down all the parts and have the time to do everything needed to get it all together and installed. If you are a DIY type of person, then you may want to consider doing them yourself. If not, have the dealer do something for you.

Just my opinion. ;)

MtnViewRanch,

Do you recommend float on the T-N-T spools?

I do for the side link. With the right conditions, it can make finish work much nicer. Many people also like it for their top link, it can make it easier to hook up. That is a personal preference though.

For other people reading, if a person gets hydraulic links with the DPOCV (check valve) then there is no reason to have the float position because it will not work with the check valve.

Hoping to get the tractor tomorrow from the dealership if we can come to terms. Got a guy from work that is going to help me with getting started with hooking up remotes. Good thing is I am not in not rush to get them. I'll check the owner's manual to see if there any info. Let y'all know how if goes.
Thanks
