Section 60 deals with setting the various functions of the SCV valves. Good bedtime reading?
This manual is for the 8420 Deere tractor and the only reason I'm a little bit familiar with it is that I've spent several hundred hours operating it over the last half dozen years.

Edit: This system uses solenoid operated valves and is probably beyond the scope of what we're discussing in the post. Just thought it might be of some interest.

Thanks, tractor examples?

Not really sure what you mean by tractor examples??

Your tractor's hydraulic output is nearly 10gpm so the 8gpm valve I previously linked to would not allow max flow so it was a poor example... I like the (Prince) series as they allow me to add or remove the detent mechanism as needed and I can move it from one valve to another...

If possible it is best to add at least three remotes to the rear...two for T&T and a third to have available for whatever the need...lots of grading implements have hydraulic angle options, some box blades have hydraulic rippers/scarifiers etc., etc...

It's fairly rare to see single action (one hose) cylinders on compact tractor applications these days...

As for the aesthetic issue of the installation...there are many threads and lots of good ideas you can find here with some searching...it is not difficult to fabricate mounting plates/brackets that make for professional looking installs...

If you have not already made up your mind to go with an OEM or third party kit...Post some pics of your tractor and you will get some ideas...sometimes the most obvious place to mount a valve is not always the easiest and comfortable (ergonomic) to reach and work...

Just a passing thought...considering that the OP had said: I'm still not clear on the terminology...

...Free catalogs with descriptions are available from places like Surplus Center and Discount Hydraulic Hose - Home just call or e-mail for hard copy catalogs...

...They make decent reading material for those regular times when there is little else better to do with your time ...
...Reading the descriptions of will give some insight to the (hydraulic) nomenclature and acronyms as well as what is actually available in the way of hardware and fittings etc...

these sites also offer free thread, port and connection size charts...one of the most confusing things about hydraulic plumbing is all the different types and sizes of ports, hose ends connections, fittings and adapters etc., etc...
