Rear remotes -- Now or Later

Get them now. Ditto on the block heater. I curse myself for not getting either on my Cub. Good luck and enjoy! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At current, I won't be purchasing anything that would need rear remotes.

I could not help but wonder...if you planned on taking up golf sometime in the future, would you tie your money up in a set of golf clubs today?

Guess I have to say get the remotes too...but do it with open eyes...what will they cost? I've heard prices ranging from $800 to $1,300 for dealer installed dual remotes. What percentage of the base tractor cost is that? Something to think about if you don't need them right now.

But you do "need" them right now. You just don't know it yet!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif After two years I will in a month or two have them on my tractor and I can't wait. Box blade, landscape rake, rotary cutter, rear blade...Top, tilt or both will enhance what those tools can do.

If you can afford it, get them now. If money is a little tight...and you can get near 0% financing, it still might pay to get them now...if money is really tight, probably best to wait...

Just one guy's perspective though. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If they were on sale today and it was going to cost me x amount more to buy the clubs in the future I would sure buy them today. But I'm a sucker for a good deal. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Then I have the clubs and if I wanted to start earlier I'd have the option. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Hate to be at a farm sale and see a beauty of a hydraulic piece of equipment and not have the hydraulics to run it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, I am on the other side of the fence.

If you do not know what or why you need the remotes at this time why buy them.

The tractor will still do every thing that you want it to do and having the remotes will not help this.

If you have a need for them then by all means buy them.

I did not get them when I bought my tractor and on that unit have not missed them. If I want them I will order and install myself.

For most applications using a cut they are used to TNT, both of which you can do by hand, just not as nice.

And what the heck does golfing have to do with this discussion, just as when my boy gets to be of driving age cars will be more expensive than they are now, so I should buy one and put it away for 14 years so it will become a good deal?

Just a thought.

I don't think this is a good analogy. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Most people know what golf is, most people, particularly with their first tractor, can not anticipate all the ways they'll be able to use their tractor and, as a result, all the attachments they might need. Even when they can, for example, a rotary cutter, they can not anticipate how much they'll like/dislike adjusting the toplink.

Guess I'm not most people...I never golfed... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Yep, really true... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Golf was the messenger. It is the message, not the messeger that is important...would one buy a snowblower when he lived in Florida, cause he might move far north some day? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It's all Golfgar4's fault actually... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Is it better just to have the dealer add a rear remote or wait till the need arises before either installing it myself of letting the dealer do it?

Get them now. I had no idea why I would need one on my TC18, but I'm glad I have it now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I waited and put it on later myself. What a pain /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
On mine the cost was $255 installed, if I ordered it at the time, or $255 later plus installation later. I did it myself (with help from the wife and she was none too happy about that) in about 3 hours or so. My back hurt for 3 days /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Like Cowboydoc said, yes, if the price is right. Several years ago, my wife thought she might like to take up golfing, so I bought her a set of clubs, bag, etc. I took her to a driving range one time and she decided golf wasn't for her. But a few months later, we went to Alaska and up there I sold her golfing equipment for more than I paid for it in Texas. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm with the buy it now crowd. When I bought my Kioti, I wish I had added remotes as I would like to add TNT, and get a log splitter as well. There are a lot of hydraulically operated implements that I would be able to use, but I have to install the remotes at a pretty good cost now. John

Now you just knew that I'd jump in here, didn't you? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hey, I've got broad shoulders (and other areas /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif). I can handle it!

I like the way Richard and Bird think!! They're my kind of guys.

The analogy that you made, Bill, is kinda sorta understandable. Unfortunately, you being a non golfer type would not realize that some golfers DO buy golf clubs that they don't use now but might use in the future. I know, because I've got a dandy brand new 60 degree lob wedge sitting in my garage that I've had for about 2 years that I plan on using, once my current wedge wears out.

Your follow up question suggests that you really believe that you would buy golf clubs......uh.......rear remotes......even if you didn't have a need for them now.

So my question to you is..........

what color clubs are you going to buy?? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
