The clutch is almost 100$ retail, by itself. Add the upgrade from the blade and I'd say you came out even or better.

Not to hijack the thread but I have an additional question concerning rear shields. Many rotary cutters are enclose in the rear either by design or by a steel shield that is bolted on. Does this type of rotary cutter also need shields, and does anyone have pictures of one with rear shields installed?

My Deere 513 rotary cutter has rear shields. They became pretty beat up, because I did a lot of backing into brush (pushed some dirt and rocks as well as the brush stems).
As a result, I had a welding shop straighten the shields, and weld 1¼" sqare tubing along the bottom edge for additional strength. Now I can back into brush with no problem.

I will look into the chains on the LX5 if I end up buying that rotary cutter.
