Made a rear shield for my 1715 to keep limbs, etc. from stabbing me in the back when backing into brush and to prevent bush hog from slinging stuff at me. Made from 3/16" steel with laser cut holes.

Looks great! I have been thinking about something very similar, but made of Lexan. Has anybody tried it? Any downside?

I like it!

I'm sure it is much stronger than mine...which is made from a 20 gage perferated cookie tray of some type...stainless steel but still...yours is certainly better.

Buy anything has to be better than nothing!!!!

I thought about the lexan but figured in about two weeks it would be so scratched up I wouldn't be able to see through it

The lexan would mess up your aerodynamics and cause more wind drag /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Might slow your progress down......of course that would equal more seat time so maybe it is the best idea /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice looking project! Sometimes when using the rotary cutter and seeing the debris being thrown around I also wish for one.

I live in Mooresville, NC i.e. Race City where many NASCAR race shops and related businesses are located. I had a friend that worked in a fabrication shop for race cars and did it for me on their computerized laser machine.

I wish I had access to something like that. If I had a spare ten grand laying around I'd get a CNC plasma cutter.
