Rear tire width?

I think I forgot that the locating pin holes where not all in a single line. But to tell all of the truth, I only moved the wheels once. My needs don't change, so I have left the wheels at there widest setting. Moving them was easy though!!!

Lately, I have had to change the wheels from R4 to R1. Changing the wheels is a bit trickey without messing up the threads on the wheel studs. The diameter of the R1 tire is larger than the R4 so I am forced to jockey the floor jack to get the studs to line up smoothly. It's a pain but I'm getting better at it.

Not sure I follow. You mean when you buy another set of wheels you can get them without the hub? If that's the case, how much did you spend (if you don't mind my asking)?

The only time I move my wheels in is when I use the snow blower - it's 54" wide and having the rear tires narrower makes a neater job (not too many 20 degree slopes on my 20 foot long driveway either /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.)

What I did was to get a second set of tires and wheels. The rear hub is not part of the wheel assembly. The fronts don't have a special adjustable hub.

When the tires and wheels arrived, completely assembled, Kubota had a part number sticker on each tire. The sticker stated the numer of the wheel/tire assembly and whether it was right-hand or left-hand. It's expensive, $630 for the whole set of 4 wheels and 4 R1 tires, but the various projects for the next 5 years forced me into it. Boy, it sure is nice to have traction in soft sand. I can do in 2wd what I had a hard time doing in 4wd before, with the R4s. But, hey, the R4s are a good compromise, I still love 'em.

My wheels stay in the widest position all the time.

What I do is unbolt the wheel from the hub. Just like you would do if changing a flat on your car/truck. Both the front and back wheels have six hub bolts. The fronts have standard nuts and lock washers too. The rears have wheel lock nuts that are chamfered to fit the dimple in the wheel. The hub stays on the axle and stays in the same position on the axle.

Doe that clear it up some?

Say, do you have a shock absorber connected to the speed pedal linkage? Mine seeps oil. I have a fear that I may need a new one.

You might try a tractor wheel supply company. I don't think theres anything special about the Kubota inner hub. Might be cheaper. I would say you could try a Kioti wheel but I won't go there. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

SO from what I am reading here you folks are saying that there seems to be little to no reason to have the rear wheels set anywhere except at their widest setting (as long as they do not interfere with an implement)?

What implements do they sometimes interfere with?

If it is safer to have them wider, and no one can think of any
drawbacks.... why do you suppose my B2410 came with the wheels set so narrow? (Two setting naroower than the widest)?

I don't know, but mine came set narrow too. I think I've heard that certain wheel width setting hit the mid mount mower, but I've never had one so I haven't paid attention to that.

I'm betting they all come, as mine did, with the tires set all the way in for manufacturer storage and shipping reasons. Get a whole bunch of these things and you can save a good bit of space. I would also imagine that some farmers might want less width for maintaining crops. Kubota offers that thin tractor though I can't think of what it's called at the moment. I would also suppose that someone that didn't have one slope on their property might also have a storage issue. I think it all comes down to flexibility.
