Have there been any good discussions regarding pros and cons of each of these systems? It seems you need side discharge for collection system (not personally interested) and, without collection, side discharge accumulates a more substantial row of cut grass than rear, which tends to mulch. I believe rear discharge mowers tend to cost a little more. Any other things to consider?

Bradey, I think you're right in that you need the side discharge for collection systems or bagging, and of course, you have the windrowing with a side discharge. In addition, you usually need a little more room on the right side because of the discharge chute, whereas with the rear discharge models you can mow close to fences, buildings, etc. with either side. And when I bought my mower, the dealer quoted the same price for either side or rear discharge.
