Not sure which 3000 series you have. I tried looking them up on tractordata site but tractor weights vary greatly in the 3000 series for both Kubota and Deere. I have a Mahindra 2615HST 4x4 which I estimate weighs between 3200-3400. I plow with my loader or sometimes swap the bucket for a 7' plow truck blade and use rear chains. When the 4 WD isn't enough I have an 850-900 lb ballast (55 gallon plastic barrel filled about 3/4 with cement) I can hang on the back. If you can hang 500 lb on back it will help with traction.

I use a barrel of sand atop a carry-all. Works pretty well

How much counter weight on the 3 pt hitch do you guys use for snow plowing?
I have a 3000 series Kubota.. Same basic size as te 3000 and 4000 John Deere tractors.

It's got chains and a 6 foot plow. Still lose traction mid winter when snow has piled and has made a nice slippery base under the tires.
Do you folks add 200 lbs or more like 500 and up?

I use the same ballast box all year long...I'm estimating there is 700 lbs or so in the box.
In your case (if you don't have a ballast box), I'd try the what ever implements you may have before buying a ballast box...a rear blade would probably be best since you could use it to help in clearing the snow.

Mine has 1400bs of Rimguard in the tires, The ice chains weigh about 250 and I keep a cross bar and sixty feet of log chain wrapped around the 3PH arms which probably adds up to another 150 and then there is my considerable bulk to add in so it's over a ton . The eight foot fisher blade and push frame probably weighs 600 or so but I take off my bucket to mount it so deduct say 250 for that.
Works well for me.
I'd recommend loaded tires as it is out of your way and as low to the ground as you can get, then if you need it a concrete block or barrel on the 3ph set so it is supported by the drawbar. Much better then having an implement wagging out there behind you trying to scratch parked cars and garage siding while you're looking the other way.

My light little JD 3038e has loaded tires and a scraper blade on back, with some cinderblocks. If the snow is deeper, I switch to a heavy box blade. I have been able to put - with the FEL - without slipping except on my two really steep hills. Sometimes I have to go to the top of the hill and turn to push down. I have a full mile-long gravel drive, so snow is a challenge. The only change I am making is to get chains this winter for the more frequent sleet and ice we are getting under the snow.
