Yep... The center of my rear tires is inline with the center of my front tires.

One dealer that I am seeking a tractor quote from indicates that he feels spreading the wheels out beyond the narrowest setting will place extra stress on the axles and accelerate wear and tear of the axles. So, he does not like the idea of setting them farther apart do to concern that it will harm the axles. What do you all think?

I would discount the dealer's "opinion" and instead rely on the manufacturer's guidance in the Operators Manual. There are circumstances when a narrow setting is required for clearances, but in general, the wider the stance the better in terms of stability. I would consult the Operators Manual. Many companies are now providing them on public Websites.

Bob I might suggest that you keep the rear wheels set at the factory default until you get a chance to use the new snowblower and try it out. Placing the rear wheels out further will put them in a position that they will be packing virgin snow before the blower has had a chance to move it out of the way.
