Dfkrug, They are not aluminum granules. That is a powdery substance from the bolts.

I removed the pump today and opened the front cover. I noticed the dealer installed the two rear bushings upside down. If you look at the illustrated parts breakdown from my previous post, you値l notice the left inside of the pump housing comes to a sharp point where the two gears mesh. However the right inside has that sharp point milled flat. I致e included the post mortem pic of the rear of the pump after the dealer rebuilt the pump.

Good luck let us know if it works.

I would stop and take it back. If it grenades from running dry they should cover a new one.

As you may know, cleanliness is very important. I even use lint-free rags.

Congrats. You may have found your problem. Rebuilding these pumps is not hard, but you do
have to pay attention to how the complex seals go in there.

if they did not replace the center section of that gear pump and by the looks of it they did not I would tell them I want my money back or credit you for the repair expense toward a new pump- those bushings are toast

Take it back and demand a refund, if I had done that I would have been thrown out the door.

The rule for commercial shearing gear pump and motor rebuilds is this:

new shaft
new shaft seal
new shaft seal retainer if it is not sold with the seal
new bearings in pump/motor neck casting
new bronze bearing plate to support gears on neck side and the base side
string oil seal gasket pieces for each of the bronze bushing plates 8 total
new drive gear
new driven gear
new bearings in pump motor/base casting

2 new o ring seals in the grooves milled into both sides of the new center section casting
all four tie bolts are torqued to avoid damaging the o ring sealing gaskets.

Don't mess with it any more, take it back and demand your money back and buy a new pump from someone else.

If they do not refund your money you can and will get it all back and court costs when you take them to small claims court.

Success at last! It took some time but I was finally able to get back to working on the tractor. I installed the bushings correctly. Every thing inside the pump looked good, no pitting or scratches. I reinstalled the pump on the tractor. It works great!
There is no need to prime the pump. It'll suck the flees off a dog at forty yards.
The dealer promised to replace the seal kit and refund the labor cost (basically $100.00). I've already received the seal kit. I haven't seen the $100.00. Don't know what I'll do there.
