Rec Trailer for 40-50 hp

I am looking at either a Kubota 5030 or JD 4000 series.
What would be the shortest trailer length and width for tractor with fell and bush hog

Not sure about the shortest possible that you could get by with.

I would think a 20 footer would be fine though.

We have a 3830, which is probably a little shorter than the 5030, and with the bucket on and a 6' rotary cutter, the rear wheel hangs over the end of our 20' trailer. I'd say 20' was a minimum length. I wouldn't mind a couple extra feet.

Of course, it's not just the length you'll need to worry about. You'll need one that can support the weight of those tractors.
You'll need to deduct the weight of the trailer from the overall capacity, then figure out how much the tractor and all implements will weigh and buy axles that have enough capacity for all of it.
Then you'll have to make sure that the tow vehicle can also take all the weight, especially being sure the tongue weight will be correct.
I agree that 20' would be a minimum, 24 would be almost ideal, but then that changes a lot. Rules on overall length can make you have to have a different driver license.
Many variables come into play.

Do not buy by size alone. I recently looked at a bunch of 16' landscape trailers. On the surface, they appeared to be all the same. However, some were rated for only 2990# total weight (trailer and load) and others were rated for 7000# You will need the 7000# size or larger. One other thing, make sure there is a sticker with the gross rating and the mfgr name on the frame. Do not rely on what the salesman tells you. A 16' trailer weighs about 1400-1500#. That gets deducted from the total rating to determine your allowable load. A 20' trailer will weigh even more. Read the recent posts about chains and binders; they are very helpful.
