My 4410 falls with-in the serial numbers posted on the JD WEB site. My Dealer picked up my 4410 on Friday to preform the recall. Here is an E-mail I just got from my service department. I never received a card from JD on the recall but assumed my unit was effected because of the serial number. I have asked my service department if they would send me the list they are working off. If they do I will post it. If this is true I'm glad my unit was not effected but then the information on the WEB site isn't correct.

Craig

Here is the E-mail I got from the Dealer.

Yes, the number on your s/n plate is LV4410H241721, and is within the s/n range of affected machines. But it doesn't appear on the list of machines that need the recall. Which means, your machine was repaired at the factory or for some other reason doesn't require this program. Deere always sends a letter to customers who own affected machines and asks them to verify their s/n with the one on an enclosed post card. I thought you had received one of these letters. When we talked last week I hadn't received my list of affected machines from Deere yet and also assumed since yours was within the s/n range, it needed the recall. As of today it's not included in this program, I can't explain why, but do know if I install the kit I won't get paid. Sorry for the inconvenience, we are planning to get your tractor back to you late today.

I received a follow-up message from service about my 4410 and the recall. My tractor didn't need the recall and is coming home! My take on it is if your tractor is with-in the posted serial number range and has the issue you will be contacted.

Seems like an odd recall. A list is published on the WEB but only a subset of that list appear to have the issue? Maybe it has to do with a certain number of transmissions that were put in this range of tractors?

Craig

Craig,

Deere knows the s/n's of every machine we sell or have setting on our lot. When a recall comes about, they send us a list those machines were are responsible for. This list will tell us who the machine is registered to, if sold, and the s/n. If a machine does not appear on the list, that means it's not included in the recall. The bulletin released to us about the recall reads: "Some machines within the serial number ranges above were repaired at the factory or do not require this program. An exception list of those units will not be printed. Claims for machines not listed will not be accepted." Hope this helps explain the situation.

Original note from Deere just says "In" that range of serial
numbers.

Total number of possible serial numbers in those ranges is
about 3300 so it would appear that half of the tractors aren't affected since recall note says 1700 tractors are
involved.

Saved them some typing I guess to not list the actual numbers
or maybe they hadn't figured out which ones hadn't been fixed
already.

Looks like you escaped this, good to see the dealer checked
it out before yanking tractor apart!

Seems like there is always an increased chance of some other
"problem" developing when something is worked on, especially
that extensively so best it stayed together!

Dig on...
