I was just at the dealer looking at the L2800HST/3400HST models, and the dealer mentioned that he just heard about a recall on them regarding the HST. He had not heard of what the problem was or the fix was yet. Has anyone heard any details on this? Anyone had any problems with their Kubota HST? I really want to get one of these, but this made me nervous.

The problem is not with the HST, but with the one way or overrunning clutch on the pto . The clucth is designed to slip when the clutch is engaged so the momentum of the implement mainly a rotary cutter will not try to push the tractor. It's my understanding that some of the overrunning clutches are slipping while under a load thus loosing power to the implement.

Is the overunning clutch on this model different than on other Kubota models or do they even all use them? The dealer told me that he understood that they were using and exisiting HST unit with this tractor and did not know the reason for a problem. Does anyone have a guess? Thanks, Brian

The grand L series use an independent pto no need for the overrunning clutch, the standard L series uses thetransmission driven pto.

The Kubota brochure on the HST model shows a live-continous with over-running clutch and transmission driven with over-running clutch on the gear drive. What is the difference? I test drove an L2800HST and I remember it had a small cable operated lever to engage the pto but I am new at all this so thanks for the help. Brian

I just purchased a new L 3400 HST on friday april 1. The dealer called me today(monday) and told me about the recall. It requires replacing two springs in the PTO area with heavier duty ones.

I got my 3400 HST back around the first of March. Nice Tractor. My dealer got hold of me Monday 4/4 and told me to look for a white dot on the center hub of my left rear wheel. White dot indicates unit was fixed in factory. Been travelling haven't got to check yet. Just a head's up for all interested.
