Buying a Sunbelt Rental with a broken hour meter can't be good. Buying a commercial grade piece of construction equipment (mini-excavator, forklift, man lift) from a rental company doesn't bother me, but when you take a consumer grade CUT of any brand and put it into a rental fleet, it gets a lot of wear and tear. You bought a relatively high hour machine. With repairs, it will still do a lot of work for you and should last for years, but I am very uncomfortable if it was truly misrepresented. Of course the big rental decal wasn't hidden from you in the pictures I suppose. Not picking on you, but that should have raised some flags.
A low hour fully serviced machine for $22k would be a good buy with that backhoe. That's close to 30% off a brand new 4720 TLB.
If you are good with your current arrangement and the dealer has made things right, good for you. Move on and enjoy, life is short. I'm very forgiving of errors and always give folks a chance to make things right. But from just your side of the story, which I have no reason to doubt, I'd be asking the dealer to send a truck and overnight a check back to me. Mistakes we can fix, blatant misrepresentations we can't. If you are able to let this go and get on with life, you are a better man than most.
