I am assuming he buys these things at auction. Not sure if tractor was prior rental or not.

Did you actually purchase the tractor through that dealer? Or did they just handle shipping or the exchange? I'm curious because I don't know how these things work.

I was going to get a tractor from them because of their package deals, but then the sales rep said Kioti tractors are garbage and to avoid them at all costs and that they're the only reputable dealer within 100 miles. I am glad I ended up with a Kioti from E&E Equipment. My girlfriend's father bought a tractor from them shortly after I got mine and he told me his sales rep said E&E Equipment was going out of business and lost the agreement to sell new tractors... They must have millions of $$ in inventory on the lot now... Out of business? Lol. They just serviced my 50 hour a month ago for parts cost only (less than $125 to me).

Sorry to hear about the problems you have had.
My dad bought a brand new Branson tractor, 55hp with a cab. He has had nothing but trouble with it. Including a whole new motor. I know others have had good luck, but my dad is sure regretting his purchase. It currently has 300 hours on it.

That sound high? Ive been on a hunt for used tractors in this size range for a LONG time, cant find anything in Cali. Some old beat to **** Kubotas for 12-17K that are smaller, and no backhoe. I paid 22K for the tractor (which I was told had 250 hours, AKA new almost), an 8620 backhoe, a new canopy, and a brand new 6ft gannon. From all my research that wasn't bad? That included freight too.

I'm really not an expert so just ignore me. I do feel for you though. This would really get under my skin. Document everything.

Was the whole thing a Sunbelt rental or just the hoe?

From the looks of the wear and the looseness of the hoe that the whole tractor was a rental. There should be no reason that the tach cable was unhooked but for to keep the hours down. You may need to put a bit of lubricant down the shaft to keep it turning freely assuming that it does move.

The reason I asked was it didn't look like there'd been any stickers on the tractor to indicate such.
