What's your goal for that part of your property? If it is just to make it look better, consider a prairie wildflower restoration. It is a bit of work to create initially, but after a couple of years, it is maintenance free. If you try to grow grass (fescue I am wagering), you'll have to mow it at least twice a month from March to November. A wildflower meadow will need maintenance about once a month for the summer months for the first two years and then it will need nothing but a controlled burn about every other year.
