It is hard to get the lay of the land from your pics but.... making that 'gully' wide, shallow and armored with rocks may be the best option.

Another option might be to deal with the at least some of the water before it gets there. From the pic it looks like maybe the water follows the trail for a bit before crossing. Use of 'rolling grade dips' might help provide areas for it to cross before it starts to accumulate into a small stream.

In the above pic you could put a grade dip about 1/3 of the way down on each side (near and far parts of the trail) (assuming there is someplace for the water to go on the downhill side). This would take any water that accumulates and wants to come down the trail and re-direct it off the trail. Then the center section only needs to deal with what water comes off the area above the center section between the grade dips.

Wide, shallow and lined with rocks seems like the best option so far.

In that pic the water only goes down the ditch/gully to the left. Out of the picture to the right is the bottom of the ravine where the remainder of the water goes. This is all pretty steep terrain and the water comes down off this mountainside in torrents. I'm not worried about the trail itself being in jeopardy, but I don't want to build up a 'crossing' and have it wash out, or make the down hill section worse.

Very nice property you have. I have been doing something similar but am jealous you had old logging trails as that makes it a bit easier. There is nothing like being out in the forest especially at this time of year.

Here's a few pics of the end of the trail. I got it cut up to another trail so now it's a complete loop. I'm still debating about what to do with that gully, but I can get a tractor across it so it's not pressing. I've also started cutting a new hillside road through some pretty dense woods on the back of the farm. I'll probalby start a new thread for that sometime soon.

First pic is looking out the end of the trail, second is looking back towards the aforementioned gully from the end of the trail.
