Recomendations for the best / solid garden tractor that will last ?

When it comes to Garden Tractors and longevity, Wheel Horse stands out. Almost every part is still available for them. Mine is a 1985 414-8 (14 horse Kohler) manual shift. Mower decks from 1972 fit the newest tractors and vise-versa. They are simple to repair and built tank tough.

I used to think like you about shaft drive to the deck and transmission, but a $14 belt is by far cheaper and to replace than a busted gear.

Goats in fenced areas , why cut there food for them?

There are 6 fenced in a 40x60 area, they are difficult to keep penned, so they dont get to graze with the other livestock. I have trouble keeping them in a 40x60.

The old man I bought the goats from, when I asked what kind of fencing they needed he replied, " the best fences for goats, are ones that hold water "

I recently sold a Gt245 John Deere.It has a better quality transmission ( k71 tuff torq)that is serviceable.I ran a snowblower and powerflow bagger plus pulled carts of firewood without any problems. A gt235 also could be an option.They are relatively cheap to buy used.They do burn a lot of gas however. From my research, the Kubota g1800 or 1900
Appear to be the best built Gt with shaft drive and diesel engines.You also may find one with all wheel steer.Good luck

I just traded in a Simplicity Conquest with 54"cut, leaf vac and cart with 42" Snowblower. A tractor like that or the presteige with power steering and hydraulic deck

Yes, it is diesel. Deck is shaft drive (belt to blades). Hydraulic lift and steer. Full pto and 3pt hitch.

I say mine would be a "Heavy Duty" garden tractor. Or light duty "tractor". Same for the Deere X7xx's, 102x's. Kioti CS, CK20's, Massey GC's etc etc. Thats looking with an UNBIASED eye. They can do a lot, but as a tractor they all are pretty light., heck anything under 50hp is "pretty light"
