Recommend a 16 to 18 ft wing disc please

Here's a 12 footer, but at 853 lbs per blade I doubt that your neighbors tractor will be able to make good use of it. This seems to be a recurring theme every year. It is not just the width of a disk that needs to be considered, but type and weight per blade along with soil and terrain conditions is what will dictate what one can make use of with their tractor.

First time I've tried to attach a photo from my iPad but if it shows its a picture of what it takes to pull a disc with that blade load. It rips up the oil pretty good, plus chews up brush and anything else on the ground. It's a Cat D6R.

He has a six series JD - not sure the model number. I only know that because he talked me into buying a new six series - or at least help persuade me

I agree with a lot of points being made on this thread. Soil type, weight of disc, offset or tandem, blade size are all significant factors. Let me give you some more information. The soil type is bottomland soil that works up well. There really isn't a lot of clay. He chisel plows every year and does not want a disc for primary tillage. Rather he only wants to finish with it and is looking for a wider disc to save time. His tractor is a six series JD. I will look up exact model in a few.
