Just thought I would update this post. I did remove and wash/clean the fuel tank, along with replacing the fuel and return lines and the valve at the bottom of the tank. I have attached a picture of the tractor with the tank off. Following what was in the manual it was not hard to do just a little messy.
I have always used a funnel with a small filter screen when filling the tank (I did not purchase the tractor new), there was some junk in tank. Looked like pieces of the fuel line.
I turned the fuel off at the filter, before starting. I filled the tank when done, removed the fuel line at the filter and gravity filled the line. I put the line on and the tractor fired right up. Did not have to bleed the tractor. It does sound like the tractor is running a little stronger.
The hardest part was getting off the two little philip screws at the back of the tank.
