Reconnecting hydraulic line

I had to disconnect my front loader in order to navigate back into my garage to reattach my backhoe. After quite a struggle, I was able to get the backhoe back on, but I am having trouble reconnecting the hydraulic lines on the loader back to the loader valve and am hoping someone here can provide some advice (it looks like I got three out of the four back in). It seems like there is too much built up pressure to push the connectors back together. I have a Century C42L with a 50hl loader.

Shut the tractor off and take the loader valve and work it in all directions. It should go right on.
By moving the joy stick in all the directions you are releaving the pressure.

Wallace is right that there is pressure built up, but it's in the hydro lines on the loader not at the valve.

What I do is press the dimple in the line against the valve body. Do this carefully as some oil will shoot out. you may want to have a rag handy.

Once this pressure is relieved the line should go on with out a problem.

Another method to use, is to lightly tap the dimple with a hammer. I don't like doing this as you have less control where the oil is going to go.

Thanks guys for your assistance. The tricks worked and I was able to reconnect the hoses. I still had a pretty big leak. I discovered that an o-ring had broken inside one of the couplers. A quick trip to the hardware store and I was back in business. I can't believe how much I looked forward to working on a holiday—but it is so much fun to trade my office chair for my tractor seat.
