Must be a regional thing like the price of Kioti tractors.
Maybe cause RedLine is in CA?? Shipping costs or just plain gouging? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
RedLine has a great deal of other trick stuff- fuel cleaners, Watter Wetter, suspension fluids, etc.
I referred folk to the website to see an informative "filmstrip" on synthetic oil properties.
People in low sulfur diesel states should be running a lubricity additive in their oil burners. I digress.

Actually, if you can point me to where I can buy Red Line for even a close price to Amsoil, I think I prefer Red Line. As I said, it's not really scientific, but I can't wipe that stuff of an engine very easily at all if I spill some. To me, it just seems like it will cling to internal parts better. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I do use their Water Wetter in a hot rod I have. Without making structural changes, its just pretty hard to get a radiator large enough to cool an engine over 500 cubes in size along with an A/C unit running as well. The Water Wetter helped some. But, some is better than none.

Look out, I said that about a year ago and thought I was going to have a contract out on me. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Some people rather strongly disagree with us on that.

Thanks Tom for the gracious offer, but I did break the bank and I do have Red Line racing oil in the one I was talking about; a '62 Biscayne. I have 2 other '60's Chevy hot rods too, and I don't have it in them yet though. One has a small block though ('67 Camaro), and I think I'm going to put the 725 hp 572ci GM crate engine in it. I'm trying to get the cooling issue addressed on that first. It may not work the way I want it. I put Vintage Air in my hot rods because I don't think it's cool for me to show up at cruise ins and car shows all sweaty. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If I get a magazine feature on one of them (the Biscayne), maybe I'll call Red Line and see if they will give me a break on the price of their products if I mention their product in the article. But, the photo shoot and article particulars are all still up in the air.

I agree, if both were the same I might be more willing to try it. Then again, I dislike there long drain statment & there Moly in it. Moly is not good for long drains.

Both oils are very close in these properties.

Amsoil 5w-30 and Redline 5w-30. I used 5w-30 in my car.

Im pretty sure shipping would eat you up going to IN but in western WA theres Motor Oil Supply company (lousy customer service but best cost) and B&B auto parts. I think even the factory ships direct
