I was at my farm earlier this week and I've hit upon a way of dealing with these pests that seems effective. We have some new construction that has drawn the wasps' attention so we have a large number building nests under the eaves. Using some scrap pieces of 12 ft. pine that had been trimmed from a larger board, I wrapped the end with duct tape with the sticky side out. I then placed the sticky end up near the wasps and as one came near the stick, I slowly rolled the stick over on top of the wasp trapping him. With practice one can trap multiples at one time. Just before I left, I took care of three on one roll! Now, if I can just keep the folks from P.E.T.A. from finding out.....

I was out by my shop the other day with my leaf blower and spotted a big wasp nest under a low hanging eave. Hmmm, says I "Wonder what would happen if I blew those big red wasps off their nest?".

Note to self: Don't ever do that again.
