Red Wing Boots

For wide shoes or boots try Hitchcock Wide Shoes I'v been wearing their boots for years and they are the most comfortable I've found. I have terrible feet and these really help me get around.
Most people can't afford more than 70-80 dollars for boots with the lousy jobs. Wally's sells them the crap they can afford. These same folks head for the dollar stores, and their wives and kids shop at goodwill as well.

Lousy pay jobs and purchasing crap go together.

--------
I gave up on boots except for the rubber bottom, leather upper for wet and snow conditions (Cabellas- 1993 or so). Boots are always too hot for my feet, even with Dr. Scholls. I order everything for my feet online because I can get the 3E and 5E widths that I need. Can't find it locally. We used to have a nice Dexter outlet, but they are long gone, out of business.
I bought some custom moccasins last winter - made locally, after ordering a pair of wide Minnetonka moccasins. They were nice- just too narrow and made in Haiti or some place like that.

Local ones I finally ordered came from site below, in buffalo hide. triple sole and soft.

I have a dumb question regarding the modern style of boots that leave a lot of lacing exposed and how well that works. This is what I normally wear so you can see the eyelets nearly pull tight together. I have 4E wide feet and like tight lacing. Here's that boot.

Now look at this boot.

Why are the laces so exposed and the eyelets so wide apart? Obviously this must work but is it more comfortable?

I have a pair of Danner's after I retired. I wore Red Wings for years supplied by my job. Only had them for six months but I like them.

I will happily spend 2 to 3 hundred dollars on good quality, American made boots. I don't understand our, ( America's ) fascination with cheap Wally World crap.

I have had name brand $160 boots (expensive to me) wear out in under a year (Wolverine Durashocks), $130 Justin that lasted as long as any boot I've ever had (4 years), $60 boots that didn't make it 6 months, and now a cheap Chinese Ariat slip on steel toe that is going on over a year. The Ariats, and an identical pair of Wolverines both last well for under $80; but they don't feel like Justins or the higher price Wolverines. These Ariats and the identical Wolverines are their economy line, and have none of there badges/branding except a small one of the bottom. It's hard to find a good, cheap, 14 extra wide. Wish more company's made "man sized" boots. I have looked at Redwings, but I can't imagine paying $250 for something that will get scuffed up, concrete, and asphalt on them.

I should add I wear my boots all the time, I don't own a pair of "shoes" and only got a pair of flip-flops cause my wife said I would look too embarrassing to be seen with in shorts and work boots at the beach.
