I recall few days ago how another member wrote that in his opinion these type lawn tractors will generally last 1 year per each $1000 dollars spent!

Not sure how accurate that is, but I will keep my 1976 John Deere 300

maybe for a complete moron, I have kept 1k machines running for close to over 20 years at this point.

I'm certainly no authority on lawn mower longevity - but my guess is that $1000/year is a bit low. Like LittleBill21 experienced, I have a Husqvarna Rider 155, now 21 years old with over 2500 hours on it. And that's with a Kohler engine. Maybe there's something to be said for good maintenance?
