and people sometime ask me why I bought so much land

That is what every one at work asked me when I bought my place. Or else it was, "Why do you live so far away?'" I tell them I can shoot from my back porch, mow my yard in my underwear if I want, and the nearest neighbor is a 1/2 mile down the road.

"mow my yard in my underwear if I want,"

I bet that would be a sight! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I worked from home for clients that lived/worked in the Boston area (I am over 2 hours west of Boston in the boonies). Before I bought this place (175 acres) I mentioned to a couple of my clients that I was selling my old place with 2 acres (same town) so that I could get more land...their reply: YOU HAVE 2 ACRES AND YOU NEED *MORE*???

Guess when the house occupies 75-80% of you 1/4 acre plot 2 acres DOES seem like a lot....they just couldn't understand why anyone would need 2 acres never mind more than that!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Probably one no normal, sane individual would want to see./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Not that I do mow my yard in my underwear, just that if I wanted to I could.

David,
The only real value your home has is the assest tax value. Sale price of a home is totally at the whim of the buyer. The fact that the new buyers dont want hogs next door has nothing to do with the value of your property. It has not changed. Its a preceived value that can change for many reason.

There is no reason you should have any control over what your neighbor does on his land.there is little he can do to control the smell of the pigs. Its a natural smell.

I have to deal with CITY folks wanting the country life move out into our area. They put in a big city home on a county lot Then moan and groan about not having all the things they left in the city.
Country air sometimes smells fresh and clean but usally smells like manure and dead skunk..

Gary,

If you want to move next door to my place it would be OK by me./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
