Well, we were supposed to be driving tonight, but instead I'm writing this from home. Seems as my existing torsion bars don't fit the head that they sold her. Went back and the dealer tried selling me a bunch of bs. First he told me that my bars were too heavy for the old hitch head (1200lb) and this is why the head failed. Then he told me the trunion style bars were obsolete. The bars wouldn't fit the new head because that head wasn't rated for such a heavy torsion bar. I pointed out that the sticker on the new head said it was rated for 800-1700lb bars. He then went on to say that my truck couldn't pull more than 6,000lbs anyways and there was no need for a 1200lb bar on my truck. At this point I knew he was BSing me because I knew my truck was rated for 11,300lbs. I called him out and he said that maybe the truck was rated for that, but the factory hitch wouldn't be. I showed him the label and it said Class V, 11,500lb with 1,150lbs tounge weight. After some wining he brought out a head that they use on their trucks and turned to walk away. I called him back and grabbed one of my torsion bars. Sure enough, it didn't fit. After a little more wining he agreed to loan me a set of torsion bars as well. I'm appreciative he loaned me a hitch, just could have done without the bs. Anyways, I spent the rest of the night trying to get the hitch height and trunion angle set correctly. We're going to stay over for the night and then try to start the trip in the morning.
