She just replied to say that the pictures have been forwarded to "Tech support team for further assistance".

I will be shocked if they don't take care of you. The only reason I could think of is if they often see this type of failure from abuse.

No further reply from Reese. I e-mailed them a few days ago because I want to use the hitch this weekend and they didn't respond. Wife took the hitch over to a RV dealer and they didn't want to help her. This morning she took off work and took the hitch to a different dealer and they are going to warranty replace it. They didn't have the head in stock so they're ordering it. Supposed to be in tomorrow. I'm hopeful the dealer will stand behind the product where the manufacturer wouldn't.

Well, Reese denied the claim. They're claiming that I didn't "maintain" my hitch because

A. It wasn't properly lubricated.
B. It wasn't properly maintained because of the rust.

I've never heard of anybody lubricating a weight distributing hitch, but I guess it's something that I was supposed to be doing. The rust, well, that's just BS because it wasn't anything but cosmetic. Besides, this is Wisconsin, the rust belt, hello? What sucks even more is that my wife paid for the new head the dealer ordered in. Oh, well. It's done.

My neighbor that hauls for a living wears out hitches... he is the only one I know that does lube them.

Don't know how far you want to take this?

When I had a brand new come along snap lifting a motor... my claim was denied... it was brand new! Reason stated is I overloaded it... it was rated 1 ton and I was lifting an Olds 455 out of the back of the pickup... short block with heads.

It didn't sit well with me... so I filed a complaint with the Product Safety Commission and the Home Town BBB...

Took awhile... boy did I get results.

Well, we were supposed to be driving tonight, but instead I'm writing this from home. Seems as my existing torsion bars don't fit the head that they sold her. Went back and the dealer tried selling me a bunch of bs. First he told me that my bars were too heavy for the old hitch head (1200lb) and this is why the head failed. Then he told me the trunion style bars were obsolete. The bars wouldn't fit the new head because that head wasn't rated for such a heavy torsion bar. I pointed out that the sticker on the new head said it was rated for 800-1700lb bars. He then went on to say that my truck couldn't pull more than 6,000lbs anyways and there was no need for a 1200lb bar on my truck. At this point I knew he was BSing me because I knew my truck was rated for 11,300lbs. I called him out and he said that maybe the truck was rated for that, but the factory hitch wouldn't be. I showed him the label and it said Class V, 11,500lb with 1,150lbs tounge weight. After some wining he brought out a head that they use on their trucks and turned to walk away. I called him back and grabbed one of my torsion bars. Sure enough, it didn't fit. After a little more wining he agreed to loan me a set of torsion bars as well. I'm appreciative he loaned me a hitch, just could have done without the bs. Anyways, I spent the rest of the night trying to get the hitch height and trunion angle set correctly. We're going to stay over for the night and then try to start the trip in the morning.

Looking at the picture, that rust is more than cosmetic.
How old is it anyway?
