Walmart has it for half that price.

I don't know how price competitive it is, but I bought some at TSC.

You can go direct too. A little better price than Northern:
Shop 3M: Reflective Tape Strips

Based on what I've been able to locate so far, $18.99 for a package of 6 strips isn't bad, especially for the good 3M stuff made in the USA. And the best part is that 2 packages would provide the exact quantity that I need.

The proper term is conspicuity tape. 3M is my choice.

Nearly 40 years ago, an aquaintance hit a poorly lit semi trailer blocking the road as the driver was backing into a parking lot. His fiancee was decapitated and he darn near lost his life as well. This was actually one of the events that led to the conspicuity tape requirements.

Needless to say, I am a firm believer in the use of conspicuity tape. Using the term "conspicuity tape", a search will yield a miriad of sites for purchasing tape and more.

I've always heard it called "DOT tape" but thought the term "reflective tape" was more descriptive and it returned better search results than "DOT tape".

Otherwise, I completely agree about using it to help improve the visibility of a trailer. In my case, I am not only adding reflective tape but also additional lights, just to cover all the bases. When I am finished, someone will have to be blind to miss it, day or night.

The last trailer I painted (48' flatbed) the conspicuity tape was much more expensive than the paint, etc. More than everything else put together including my labor. But the tape will last longer than the paint job so next time I won't need to replace it. Still, the cost of the tape will take your breath away the first time you buy it.

We have used the HF stuff for the last 5 years or so and its held up great.

I've got the tape on both sides of my tractor's ROPS, hood and loader arms. Got mine at Ace Hardware and the price was comparable to Northern Tool.
Nice to be seen at night if you're plowing snow...
